PM Modi to launch three new schemes for 'Jan Suraksha' in Kolkata.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch three social security schemes pertaining to insurance and pension in Kolkata on Saturday.

During his two-day visit to West Bengal, Mr Modi will launch "Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana" (accident insurance), "Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana" (life insurance) and "Atal Pension Yojana".

While two insurance schemes - Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) will provide insurance cover in the unfortunate event of death by any cause or disability due to an accident, the pension scheme - Atal Pension Yojana (APY) will address the old age income security needs.

The Jan Suraksha Yojana, under which the schemes would be launched countrywide, would help in reducing the number of zero balance bank accounts created under the Jan Dhan Yojana.

The 'Jan Suraksha' schemes target the poor and unorganised sector who are neither covered by any form of insurance nor get pension.
